Fiji-ing

We have just returned from a week in Fiji, not three hours away from Auckland. Direct flight, resorts 15 minutes from the airport, not expensive – the true quick and dirty holiday we were all craving to shake off the spring rains that have taken over where we live.

While we loved Fiji for said “quick and dirty” holiday, I am not sure we saw the real Fiji (or as Kiwis pronounce it “Feeeeeeji”, a strong emphasis on the first syllable). Like any travel, you need to get out and that just wasn’t the space any of us were in. It was about pool and beach, eating really well and napping when the desire presented. Check and check.

So Fiji remains on the bucket list but I am setting my sights on the Southern Lao Group of islands, south east of Viti Levu which is considered mainland Fiji. Spec. Tacular.
